A corrective and preventive action (CAPA) is the methodology that eliminates the cause of a non-conformity that has already occurred (corrective) and prevents it from happening again in the future (preventive). It structures how the company responds to quality problems.
It's a basic continuous-improvement mechanism and a common requirement in certification audits.
