Upstream and downstream traceability

What is upstream and downstream traceability?

Upstream and downstream traceability is the ability to trace a product backward, to its raw materials and suppliers, and forward, to its destination and customers. Together, they cover the product's entire journey through the supply chain.

Both are essential for carrying out selective recalls and responding quickly to an incident.
