What is waste in production?

Waste refers to the losses of product or raw material generated during the production process due to breakage, discards, rework, spillage or expired stock. It represents material that is paid for but never becomes sellable product.

Measuring and analyzing waste is one of the most direct levers for improving a factory's profitability.
